The whole idea behind keyword mapping is to get your site ranked high in the search engines and also to make your site appear relevant to a particular topic or niche. For example, if you have an online store, then it would make sense to choose a niche that relates to your store. But you don't have to choose a specific niche as long as you can choose the keyword that is related.
I use a good keyword mapping tool to help me find keywords and phrases that are related to the products I am selling. However, I will only use this tool for my website marketing campaign.
Keyword mapping is generally done after you have done thorough keyword research. You then choose a list of keywords you want to target and use the tools offered by various keyword tool providers to find out which ones are the most popular. There are many keyword research tools out there, but if you are looking to make your own keyword list, there are a couple of free keyword tools you can use. Just enter the phrase or words that you want to target in a search engine like Google, MSN, Yahoo, etc.
Once you have entered this particular keyword list, hit "Search". This will bring up the result pages of the particular keyword lists that you have chosen. Now you can take a look at what each page is offering. This is where keyword mapping comes into play.
The goal of using keyword mapping is to get your site to rank high in the search engines for the key phrases that you have chosen. This is usually accomplished through keyword density. A higher number of keywords within your web site will lead to a better ranking for the keyword. If you are using the same keywords throughout your site, then this won't work very well as the chances of one of them being searched for a certain amount of time is very small. It really makes sense to find the right combination of words that is going to be searched often.
Finally, keyword mapping can be used to increase your website traffic as well. When you have keywords that people are searching for frequently, you will have the most successful website possible because more people are likely to click on those pages and visit your site instead of having to scroll down the page looking for what they are looking for.
